Great question. Luckily I had this right, as I have my 70-448 exam today. If I got it wrong, I would've panicked. 🙂
Need an answer? No, you need a question

Good question. I tried to find the asnwer on the internet, but failed, then had to use my common sense to choose an answer.
Andy, is there any reference (other than your courses, which are both geographically and budgetary out of my reach) for this?

I always enjoy your questions, they keep me thinking. Thanks.

Good question. After five plus years of SSIS I had never tried doing this before today.
Good luck on your test Zero!

My thinking was that you should be able to provide a password and the called package would just ignore it. This is the only way it made sense to me. Then I assumed it must fail or there would not have been a reason for the question. BAH!!! Over thinking got me in trouble again. Good question.

Da-zero: I doubt you will ever see somethign like this on an exam question. I would object to this kind of question, personally.
Hugo: I am considering every option for course deliveries. I'm writing (more like desiging than writing...) a course called Mastering SSIS. I'm thinking of people who already know how to write SSIS packages and deploy them to a Production environment. It includes every quirk (like the quirk mentioned in this question) of which I am aware, loads of SSIS design patterns, SSIS framework components, maintenance and troubleshooting techniques. Another option is mentoring: I can work with you on an hourly basis and with your data on an hourly basis. I've done this kind of work remotely in the past, with success. Contact me if I can help you sir.
Daniel and Sandroid: Thanks! I encountered the need to run encrypted and non-encrypted packages from the same dynamically-configured Execute Package Task. Like a good engineer I conducted a smoke test, and it passed! Thank goodness. I would have needed to do something else if it hadn't.
Sean: I've done the same thing a bunch of times. Great minds...
I'll have a couple more questions in coming weeks. Thanks for the encouragement and feedback!

Thanks for the question!
Your "Mastering SSIS" course sounds like it will be really interesting/useful.

Sir? I'm not called a sir very often!
Thanks for offering those opportunities, but I have to decline at the moment.
Frankly, I have no need to learn SSIS at the moment. My life is filled already with trying to acheive a high level of mastery in plain T-SQL code, DB design, and a base level of DBA mastery. I don't have the time to learn another aspect of the product. And since I have no need for it in my business life, I have to pass on really getting into it.
That is exactly why I am very glad with your SSIS questions here. They at least force me to put in a quarter of an hour every now and then to research some aspect, so that I gradually do get at least a basic feel for the product. If I ever come in a situation where I have to learn, I'm sure that I'll find I already have some basic understanding, and your questions contribute to that.
I'm looking forward to your next questions!

Nice question. I didn't know the answer so had to think about what would be likely to happen. Fortunately reached the right conclusion.

You were right, no questions like this one on the exam 🙂

This sound very very interesting. If you happen to drop by in the Belgium area sometime, let me know 🙂

I'm looking forward to them! (is this a correct expression? Babelfish gave me worse options)
