I am getting a new server and will be upgrading to SS 2008. I currently have SS2005 installed on my work computer. Will I be able to access the new SS2008 with SS2005 management studio? Thanks.

Yes, though some of the newer SQL2008 options won't appear in the object browser tree.

I'm pretty sure that you cannot connect to SQL Server 2008 with SSMS2005. The install requires you to uninstall it due to incompatibility.
However, you CAN connect to SS2005 from SSMS2008.
At least that is how it was with the initial release of SS2008.

Yes, you can connect to SQL 2008 servers with SSMS 2005 provided you have it patched to SP2 CU5 or greater. As David said, you will not be able to access the features exclusive to SQL 2008.

Ok thank, that's what I needed to know. I will be upgrading to SS2008 on my work computer as well, but probably not right away.
