We just installed SQL 2005 on the server with the Mgt Studio tools installed. However, it does not show up under Start, Pgrm, Microsoft SQL Server 2005. When we attempt to do a new install to install the client tools it tells us there is nothing to install so it must think it is installed.
I cannot seem to find the path to the executable for it. Has anyone seen this issue or know what the path for Mgt Studio 2005 is OR what the executable is called?
sqlwb.exe and ssms.exe I cannot seem to find either.

Just type sqlwb on Start->Run and see if Management Studio comes up?

It says Windows cannot find 'sqlwb'
Is sqlwb for SQL 2005 or 2008? We are running 2005.

Unfortunately I have this install outside the default path on my 2005 box. However this is the filename : SqlWb.exe
For 2008 R2 express : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\Ssms.exe

Mohammed's suggestion is good. I assume you searched the all hard drives for sswb.exe?
If you look under Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server/90/Binn (or the similar path) are the tools not there?
Perhaps you had a broken installation of some sort on the client tools. I haven't seen this, or seen it reported, but it's possible.
What OS?

Win2003R2 32 bit and SQL 2005 32 bit
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn
This path is there but no sqlwb.exe
It appears I am in a catch 22... it isn't there but when I go to try and install the tools now and check the Mgt tools it says there is nothing to install.. thinking they are already installed.... crap.

If this is new, can you uninstall completely?
If not, you might be able to clean out the registry and folders, but that would make me nervous. Or run setup and try to "repair", or remove the tools? Sorry, don't have a spare VM w/ 2005 handy to test uninstalls.

Thanks everyone for your input. I guess a reinstall will be the way I go.

I found a workaround and it worked. Much better than a total re-install.
To install the Mgt Studio just run "SqlRun_Tools.msi" from your setup disk.
