Yes, but you must log ship to a different database name

I think Logshipping needs two instances.

Very interesting :w00t:; especially since BOL describes this feature in a way that one may assume it is not possible.
The clue is--and I would say hidden--in this article, where it states:
The log shipping secondary databases should be on different server instances than either the principal/primary server or mirror/primary server.

Log shipping allows you to automatically send transaction log backups from a primary database on a primary server instance to one or more secondary databases on separate secondary server instances.

It seems at first that this would be counter-productive, it could be log-shipped to separate disk, yes? You'd still have some shared resources (uh, the instance), but maybe it's a poor man's disaster recovery... 🙂 ?
