I'm trying to get to the root cause of a database issue that appears to have been resolved after the database came out of "recovery", which is obviously GREAT! For my own knowledge, I've been trying to research what exactly occurs as the database is in recovery? I can see from the logs that the first phase is "Analysis", then it goes to phase 2 (Recovery), then phase 3 (Recovery).
Does anyone have any guidance as to where I can find out precisely what occurs, and in what order the steps occur, during each of these phases? Understanding this would certainly allow me to get a better grasp of the recovery process.
Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

Paul Randal explains it better than anyone.
