By chance is the mystery job actually associated with a old Maintenance Plan?
Check that Job ID against the sysmaintplan_subplans table
Chris Powell
George: You're kidding.
Elroy: Nope.
George: Then lie to me and say you're kidding.

Hi Chris
some more info
database in question was deleted on 6-3-11
job(s) associated with database were deleted on 7-11-11
errors ocurred on 7-12-11
errors have not ocurred since
there are no such entries under these tables
sysjobs
sysmaintplan_subplans
sysmaintplan_log
i see that these jobs begin with "0x" and i do not see any other jobs that begin with that combination
so i do not know if that is significant or not
Thanks for the Assist
Jim

Do you have sysadmin privileges on the server? I m just giving a guess in case you don't have permissions !
