Mirroring time out

  Server:"Principle server"; .

  Themirroringconnectionhastimedout.

  Desc: The mirroring connection to "mirrored server" , has timed out for database "Mydatabase" after 10 seconds without a response. Check the service and network connections. ; The mirroring connection has timed out.

  I got this issue sooo my qustion is what are all the requirments should be checked for principle server before executing the following query

  "ALTER DATABASE searchrunner SET PARTNER TIMEOUT 30"

  You can always increase the timeout.But what is probably more critical is to identify the cause for the time outs.
