I was informed that there were a couple of changes between SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2008 that could negatively affect the performance of queries that were ported from SQL Server 2000. I could not find any documentation on them. Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

If someone informed you of this, did you ask where they got the information 😀
Anyway Internet is full of information so you could Google IT
I actually Bing'd it and got this on the first hit:
Large Query Performance from SQL Server 2000 to 2008, 32 & 64-bit

I did see the post. I also looked online for this information and could not find anything specific. The person that told me about these issues managed a database team that encountered these problems but he no longer works there and can't remember the technical details.
