Restore slowdown

  Hi all,

  There are 3 of developers here in my office. Two of them can restore a database (4GB compressed backup) in 20-25 min. I take over 2 hours. I am running Windows 7. They are running XP and Vista. We all are running SQL Server 2008 R2 developer edition. Also, they are running regular SATA drives. I have a solid state drive.

  Any ideas of what I can look for to speed up my restore?

  You might want to check whether you have the "Perform volume maintenance tasks" user right in Windows, found in the "Local Security Policy" MMC snap-in, Local Policies, User Rights Assignment.
