Does named pipes has to be enabled on SQL Server 2008 R2 to host Share Point 2010 Databases

  • Hi,

I'm getting the below Event ID: 5586 error on Share Point Server:

unknown sql exception 297 occurred. additional error information from sql server is included below. The user does not have permissions.

I went through the link http://www.no-dumping.com/2011/01/24/sharepoint-error-eventid-5586-and-2159/

which says that we need to enable named pipes. But on my SQL Server, only TCP/IP is enabled.

Could you please point me to MSDN link where its documented that we need to enable NAMED PIPES

    Thanks

  • Could you please advice me whether we need to enable named pipes or not for SQL Server hosting Share Point 2010 databases?
