Can you back up sucessfully manually?

What service pack are you using? SP1 (pre-hot fix) had issues with maintenance plans. If you're using it, you should upgrade to the latest service pack and see if that resolves your problem.

So this plan existed before the SP3 upgrade and worked fine?
Try creating a new plan, saving it, and seeing if the new plan works. If it doesn't, the issue is probably with SP3 and you should google the error to find out if MS has put out a post SP3 fix / KB article for it.
If it does work, probably the older plan didn't "translate" to SP3 for whatever reason.

Thanks Brandie Tarvin.
I have installed SQLServer2005-KB970892-x86-ENU.exe hotfix from this link http://download.microsoft.com/download/B/E/0/BE0F87BC-37A4-4AB7-84C1-0E1A46F5463B/SQLServer2005-KB970892-x86-ENU.exe.
Now its working fine.

I'm sorry. I got so busy over the end of the month I never got back to this.
If you're still having problems with this, please post what's different about this situation from your original post. Errors and all.
