I am a junior DBA and very new to patching MS SQL server.
The following is my dev server details
9.00.3080.00 SP2 Standard Edition (64-bit)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3080.00 (X64) Sep 6 2009 09:15:46 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.0 (Build 6002: Service Pack 2)
I am not sure what service pack to choose to patch the dev server. Can anyone take me on the right track?
Thank you in advance.

You'll find your info at http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/Administration/2960/
Current service pack for sql2005 is SP4.
I would go for that one.

we have programfiles x86 and programfiles in c: in the server. There is no database instance running in x86 and all database instances are running in programfiles(64 bit). I am trying to install service pack 4 64 bit . I am getting the error " not a valid 32 bit application". I dont understand the issues. Am I missing something?
