Execution plans and restores

  • If I were to restore a DB from production to any other server, would the execution plans and statistics come with the prod backup?

Yes, on the statistics, no, on the execution plans.

Statistics are stored within the database. Execution plans are stored in memory in the procedure cache, so they're not part of any database backup.

  • Thanks, that's what I thought. I appreciate the response.
