Reusing Reports (Eco -Friendly)

  • Hi All,

I have a muli-value parameter report working and published.

What I want to know is -

Can I create a link report to the Original report and send through a defined set of parameter values (customer account numbers)? (Also, could this list be a query?)

I do not want to create another rdl as the report are exactly the same, the link report just needs to return the values for a defined set of customers. This would make maintenance much simpler as any change to the base report will show on all linked reports.

I have tried adding default values to the link report but i can only get it to accept 1 value, not more.

Please ask more questions if I have not been clear enough.

    Thanks

    Roger

  • If the version where you want to give it standard values is going to be distributed automatically, then simply set up a data driven subscription.

If you want the report to be run on demand, in Report Manager you can create a linked report with default values. In Report Manager it looks like a separate report but it is really just linked to the original with some default values.

  • Thanks, I have set up a linked report and tried to input 50 values, but i can i get only i value to recognise. Two or more values seem to negate all values.

I obiously do not know how i to insert a list of values.

What is the best format to insert a list of values?

    Thanks for your help

    Roger

  • Hmmm, there seemed to be an issue with the way i created the list, and copied it into the box.

    This worked:

I used the Web gui Parameter selection to select all values

then copy and paste the generated line into the default values box

then CR at the end of each line

and removed the ',' and space at the end of the line.

Strange but true, even typing each value as it seemed to look didnt work.

    Have fun

    Roger

    🙂
