Hello all! 🙂
I have a question regarding the function of the "Security" settings that are found under Site Settings in Reports Manager. I keep reading that all users that will be accessing the Reports Manager need to be added to the "System User" group. I've tried adding an account to the "System Users" and when I try to log in with it I receive the following error:
"User 'DOMAIN\user' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed."
The documentation that I have found indicates that the Site Settings Security should be sufficent to grant login access.
Alternately, I've added users to the folder level security and not the Site Settings and they are able to login fine and access reports. I am really hoping that someone can help me understand what functionality the Site Settings Security tab adds when adding non-admin users.
:hehe: Any help would be greatly appreciated. :w00t:

I wonder if it was allowing them to login; but the error was related to them not having access to the root folder.

Same here. I had to set them up under Folder Settings to grant access.

You should only put people in System Administrators / System Users who you want to have elevated rights to SSRS.
System users description
View system properties, shared schedules, and allow use of Report Builder or other clients that execute report definitions.
System administrators description
View and modify system role assignments, system role definitions, system properties, and shared schedules.
You can change what the roles do by logging into the report server via SSMS and modifying the security settings.
If people want to see reports then they need to be added to the folders that you want them to see, they dont go in any of the system roles and give them the right role like browser.
