How many SQl Servers install in LAN,In backend how this process works?this is checked from one sql server by seeing the open port / or what else?

finding network objects like SQL installations is one of those things that's actually easier to do outside of TSQL.
I have used SQLRecon[/url] to discover all the servers on a given network; it's free and uses eight different methods to detect a SQL Server, plus additional information about that server.
Some other posters here who i respect recommend SQLPing, which also uses a variety of methods to discover SQL instances.
