Apparently, when hosting SQL Server 2008 filestreaming from a Windows Server 2008 R2 box, any client that wishes to consume the SQL Server 2008 filestreaming service must also be hosted from a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. If the client is not, authentication fails with an exception that says "Either a required impersonation level was not provided, or the provided impersonation level is invalid."
I have no idea if this is a bug or a feature. In any case, it's a show-stopper for me unless I find a way around it.
I have a .NET console application that needs to consume a SQL Server 2008 filestream that is being hosted on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box, but is unable to because it is running from a Windows Server 2003 box.
Has anyone else ran into this problem? I'm not sure what to do and would be grateful for any help on the matter.
