SQL2005 can be installed side by side with SQL2008. Can you post the actual error when trying to install?

Yes, I have a system with that exact setup. Course, I installed 2005 first, then 2008. But that shouldn't be an issue.
On another box, we have SQL 2000 dev, 2005 dev and 2008 dev and they all work great side by side.
So yes, please post the exact error so we can help you solve the specific issue that you are having.

SQL Server 2005 Native Client is not getting installed at the time of installation of SQL Server 2005 over 2008. I am thinking that as all ready the earlier version of Native Client is on the system so the older version may not be installed. with out the native client the set may not be installed on system. The system is also having .net 3.5 sp1 frame work, is this causing an error?
What may be the solution ?
