Dynamically set Data Source values

  • Is there a way to read an xml file or configuration file to get the Data Source values since they could change?

    Thanks,

    Tom

Some data source values, yes, like filepath or server. What are you looking to change specifically?

If you go to SSIS-PackageConfigurations-Add-XML Configuration-<put in a filename>-Next... you'll see what you can configure externally on the datasources in the 'select properties to export' section.

  • Right - but how would you do that for SSRS?

I am trying to set up my reports to get the Connection string and the Cube to be handled dynamically as we have the same report for 2 different cubes and I am running the reports on one machine for Dev and then moving the reports to a different server and need to change the connection string for the data source.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Apologies Tom, I misread the forum title when I answered. I read SSIS for some reason.

I ... err... I actually have no idea how you'd do that.
