A quick clarification on something I said the other day to a group of students in one of our quick start engagements. I was not aware that you ever needed quotes around a calculated measure expression, but apparently you did. In SQL 2000 Analysis Services they were required, but you are better off not having them in 2005 or 2008 as they can lead to syntax problems down the line if one gets misplaced, etc.. If you are unclear what I’m talking about see below. In the example you’ll notice I have ‘ marks around the calculation expression. These are the unnecessary ones I am speaking of.
Removing these ‘ marks will help make the parser more effective within SSA S for SQL Server Analysis Services 2005 and 2008.
