When configuring measures in SSAS, you want to make sure you address a few important properties. They are show in the screenshot, but let’s talk about them and what they do.
Aggregate Function
As shown in the screenshot you have a number of different options (pardon the pun). These are individually out of the scope of this blog entry, but the control how the data is rolled up across multiple dimensions including time.
Display Folder
Display Folder controls the individual folders that organize the measures from different groups to group them in the best fashion for user consumption.
Visible
Seems obvious, but even if you set this to false, the measure can still be used on calculations.
Format String
Format String includes formatting options such as decimal places, currency, and other typical formatting templates. You can also create your own format string in this option.
