I have been asked to take on the new role of managing SQL Reports for our upcoming NAV system. I am our company's IT Manager, but I have no experience with SQL or Reporting Services.
I have been working through Stacia Misner's 'SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services - Step by Step', but I am struggling in parts. It assumes a prior knowledge of previous reporting services, as well as some visual basic.
Is there a 'dummies' book that I can get stuck into?
Thanks, Paul

Don't forget to read the Stairway on http://www.sqlservercentral.com/stairway/72382/

That's excellent. Many thanks.
Are there any books at that level?

Paul,
I would suggest you to go to MSDN, download BOL, follow tutorial links, and practice them.
I really like to drilldown Microsoft Book Online.
Here is one of the links-

By the way I would like to ask you a question.
I am a SQL Report Developer and currently working on 2005/2008 version. My company is going to buy a new ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics AX or NAV) within few months. My Manager wants me to be able to to manage the new ERP and take care of that(new development, reporting, maintenance etc).
I am completely new to Microsoft Dynamics. How can I learn that? Any books/Training package/tutorial link? or any suggestion?

Hello Ganesh,
Thanks for those links - they look good. I might need to borrow a laptop so I can look at them while working on Reporting Services. It's a pain to keep having to minimise one window to work on the Reporting Services. Unless I'm, missing where I can download them (and print them).
With regard to NAV, I'm afraid that all setting up and configuration has been done by a company called Tectura. The hosting of the servers (we need world-wide access) is by a company called Attenda. I'm just involved in Reporting Services and managing users.
