I'm moving our server to new hardware and upgrading SQL Server in the process.
We currently run RS 2000 and I want to know what is the easiest way to move the reports over to RS 2008 r2.
I've been working through this -
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143724.aspx
But I'm starting to wonder if it's easier to just use the following tool -

I'm not sure I understand the difference between these two paths. The "microsoft" way sounds like you move the reports by moving the database. The second option sounds like you just move the report rdl files. Pros, cons?
If I can't take advantage of new functionality right away that's OK. I just need to get the reports moved over.
If it makes a difference old server is 32 bit and new one is 64 bit.

The Microsoft way takes into account that you might have custom assemblies, and that you need to do something to copy the passwords over.
RS Scripter won't do either.
You should know there are different charting tools and such in 2000, 2005, 2008, and 2008 R2 which might cause some slight differences in the reports, depending on how complicated they are.

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and moved the database over.
It wasn't that big of a chore and everything seems to be working great.
