will 2005 subscriptions work in 2008

  • I have to install SQL Server 2008 Standard and move the ReportServer databases and subscriptions from a SQL Server 2005 Enterprise edition into it. My question is, can the 2005 subscription jobs work in the 2008 edition? I'm assuming yes, but just wanted to check. I have a pretty quick turn around for this so that's why I posted the question before I completed my own research. I know it might be easier to just do an upgrade, but that's not how they want it done. Also, if you have any tips or things to double check that would be great to know as well. I'll keep looking myself, but I figured one of you might know right away. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • I believe the jobs will work, but the reports will need to be converted, if I recall correctly.

Converting oxygen into carbon dioxide, since 1955.
  • When you are going from Enterprise to Standard there is a lot more work to do because SSRS Enterprise edition comes with features that are not in Standard. If your reports are using data driven subscription you have to look for custom code because there is no data driven subscription in Standard edition. So check what SSRS Enterprise edition features your reports are using look for alternative solutions before moving or your upgrade may run into issues.

  • Thank you both.

Gift, I will pass along the info you posted. There are around 100 reports. I'll check to see if I have a query to tell me which ones are data driven. At least that would limit the research a bit.

    Thanks again.
