Are there separate patches for R2?

  I just installed sql server 2008 R2 and I want to patch it. I found the SP2 for sql server 2008 but is that the same patch that should be used for R2 or does R2 have it's own separate patches?

  R2 is a different version of SQL to 2008. It's like SQL 2005 and SQL 2008.

  To date there have been no service packs for 2008 R2.

  There have been 4 cumulative updates.

  Do we need to apply CU after we apply Service pack SP2 for SQL server 2008 R2 servers?
