Hi All,
I have a daily feed ETL SSIS package which take html file and converts to xls and load the data to the DB.
daily we would get around 4.5 mb html file. the conversion takes only less than 2 mins in development box BUT whereas in client box it is taking 20-22 mins.
I am not able to figure out the root cause for this problem so far.
The only difference from client environment from our development (local) box is
Client box - windows 2003 server, MS Excel 2007 and used Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel version 11.0.0.0 as a reference in SSIS package
development box (local machine) - winXP Prof, MS Excel 2003 and used Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel version 12.0.0.0 as a reference in SSIS package
I changed the interop to 11.0.0.0 in development machine and processed the conversion (html to xls) . No change. still takes less than 2 mins.
Any idea here, please let me know. IS there any way that I can reduce the conversion time process in client box?
thanks for your reply in advance
Arun

Are the two computers significantly different in terms of hardware? How about services loaded and running? Free resources?

The only thing I can think of is that the later version of Excel has more bloat to it and is slower. That would be normal, but I can't be certain of it.

thanks on your reply.
But Interop is 11.0.0.0 which we used inside the package as a reference in both the environments.
I guess this is what mainly used by package for the conversion process. do you think MS Excel version what we have on the machine aslo makes a difference here?

That's what I'm saying. I think it might. Just an idea, not a proven concept. Might be worth checking, if you can.

I don't know of a legal way to get a free copy of Excel 2007, so can't help you there.
