Job ran using proxy, User cannot see output in log file viewer.

  • I have a user who created a job. So he is the job owner, however he must run the job using a proxy. When the finishes, he cannot view the log file to see a description of why the job failed, or any informational messages about the job.

According to documentation, you must either be the owner of the job or have the sysadmin system role. The user owns the job. I dont want to grant him sysadmin just so he can read his log file. I also dont want the user calling me every time he runs a job so I can send him the log file.

How can I get him to be able to see the job history log without granting him sysadmin?

  • Anyone?

  • As you said he owns the job he should be able to see that job under SQL Agent

Tell him rihgt click on the job> view history

    Where it dispalys information.

also I hope he should see the job activity monitor too.
