Hi all,
We currently have Symantec backup exec to backup all of our servers on site (circa 120 servers).
About 30 of these are database servers. However since we have upgraded to the latest version of BE - the SQL agent and Oracle agents refuse to verify the backups.
Symantec have not been very helpful in diagnosing an issue, or even admitting to an issue with the product (quite a few people online with same issue). Within the dept we probably have 30 years combined BE experiance, and we really arent happy with the current version and its support. The closest we have to a "resolve" from support is to turn off the verify because - dont worry its on the tape.
I currently do a flat file backup on most servers - but i would prefer to have a centrally managed backup like BE.
So - if we were to move away from BE - what would you guys and gals recommend?
I would be interested on any avoids as well.
Many thanks
Dan

Hi Daniel , maybe to could try to escalate your case with Advance Support on Symantec and press a little more
Another great option for SQL backups is the Netbackup 7.0 SQL Agent , another Symantec product but developed by Veritas a little more serious product with a very proffessional Support Service.
Regards .
