Hello,
We are setting mirroring and I would like to know what I have to backup on the witness instance.
We use two sql server 2008 instance and a witness on a SQL Server 2008 express. All three in 64 bits.
I think it's only necessary to backup master database after each new database mirroring setup but can anybody confirm that ?
Thanks a lot.

Regardless, you would be well advised to backup all system databases as a set. If you ever had to restore you would certainly want MSDB and Master to be in sync and all databases to be the same collation!

My advise would be don't bother backing up the witness.
If something ever happened to the witness, it is much quicker and easier to asign a new witness instance and just alter the settings in Database Properties --> Mirroring window pane.
There is nothing important on the witness instance.
