Buying Developers Edition

  • As some of you might know I recently passed my SQL Server 2008 Developer exam (70-433). All the time I was studying i used the Enterpise Edition. However the edition I have is a limited one, in the sense that the license will expire after 180 days.

Now, if I buy the Developer Edition, what am I supposed to do next?

Uninstall the enteprise edition and install the dev edition?

Is there a smart work around here? cause I really don't feel like messing up my configuration........

    Cheers,

    Henk.

  • That's essentially it. Uninstall. Install different edition.

If you can't explain to another person how the code that you're copying from the internet works, then DON'T USE IT on a production system! After all, you will be the one supporting it!

  • FYI: On New years eve all of a sudden my license expired.

I ordered the Developers edition and found out that one of the sections there is an "upgrade" option. Apparently this also works if you like to "Downgrade". I selected this option and only a couple of minutes later everything worked again as if it had not expired at all.

I thought I just share this with you.
