hello Room,
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition runs in Window Server 2008.
I downloaded SP1 for SQL Server 2008 and tried installing it on my SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition.
When I get to the “Specify the feature to update” screen, it won’t let me proceed.
The error is : There are no SQL Server instance or shared features that can be updated on this computer.
I checked the ‘About box“ in SSMS, it gave the following information:
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio10.50.1600.1
Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools10.50.1600.1
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)6.1.7600.16385
Microsoft MSXML3.0 6.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer8.0.7600.16385
Microsoft .NET Framework2.0.50727.4927
Operating System6.1.7600
Please help and advice.
Thanks,
Edwin

SP1 is only for SQL 2008 (10.0.x). R2 is 10.5.x and is a "newer" version than straight SQL 2008. There is no service pack 1 yet for R2.
