Hi -- Is there any table which stores inturn all the names/metadata of the dictionary tables (ex:sys.objects)? I know there is a table in Oracle called DICTIONARY for this purpose.
The purpose of this DICTIONARY table in Oracle is to maintain the information of all the dictionary tables. Lets say if you want to look at the dictionary table names which has USER as a part of the name, then we can use the following query to view.
SELECT TABLE_NAME FROM DICTIONARY WHERE TABLE_NAME LIKE '%USERS%'; -- The result of this query would be the name of all the dictionary tables which has USER as a part of its name.
This way i can query the dictionary table in Oracle to view information of any dictionary related table.

sys.objects can help you. It has all objects in the system in it (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190324%28SQL.90%29.aspx)

I don't believe that you'll find anything about indexes or columns or a couple of other things in SysObjects. Even the sys.All_Objects in Master doesn't contain everything.

sys.objects will contain the name of the index or table, but not the details. If you want more information about those, sys.indexes, or sys.columns will help. There are lots of system tables and views in SQL Server that contain metadata about the objects used by the platform.

My question was like is there any other table which has all information about the sys.xxx table names (Metadata) stored? This would be helpful if i forget any of the sys related tables which i can query from the table.

I believe that sys.objects has all objects, but your best bet might be to bookmark the page on MSDN that lists all tables.
