Predictable Query Performance

Wouldn’t it be great if we can accurately predict how certain queries are going to perform and what the impact would be etc – well, they’ve certainly improvde mechanics somewhat by introducing new functionality to lock down the query plans. This ‘claims’ to enable greater query performance stability and predictability. This should then enabling organisations to promote stable query plans across hardware server replacements, server upgrades, and production deployments.

Thankfully the kind of queries I get to run on my systems are not earth shattering, but I’d imagine for large companies this would be a rather useful ”crystal ball” to have !
