Hi all
I started with a self study book for the 70-433 exam a few months ago and at the time I bought a copy of the SQL Server Developer edition from Amazon.
Now when I read on the forums I noticed people talking about 2008 R2 - I've just done a check on amazon and spotted two developer editions for 2008, and 2008 R2.
Do I now need to ditch 2008 and purchase the R2 version or will I be ok with the original 2008 version.
What are the differences between the two versions? any links to more info on the difference would be appreciated
Many thanks
H

The exams are for SQL 2008. They do not cover the additional features in R2.
As for the differences, they're covered in lots of places, try a google/bing search.

Hi
The difference is in version not in way they work some new featues has been added, you may need to know difference between previous version and R2 there may be questions or may not from them you just need to have an update on the latest one.If you are new to SQL then you can go with 2008 R2 itself since it is latest one, you will be having more idea on that. But my advice is compare and study so that you may have some clear idea about what is what and where it has been used and why it has been not used previously. In exam point of view you may need to know 2008 R2 or may not, since there might be question because 2008 R2 has been released and they may ask.
Thanks

The exams are for SQL 2008. There are no R2 features within the exam material, there are no exams on 2008 R2.
This can be seen from the list of skills covered, which does not mention R2. In addition, the MS leaning blog states that the exams are not updated to R2 and there are no R2 exams.

Hi guys
thanks for the info, since the exams don't contain R2 questions I don't think I'll bother buying the r2 version of the software just yet. I will however look into what the differences are just so I'm in the know.
Cheers
