When I add a topic (as opposed to replying to a topic) I don't get an e-mail notification of the topic. This means I have to copy the URL and save it some where so I can easily go back to it.
I think it would be great to get an e-mail when I add a new topic so I have the topic recorded in my inbox automatically.

Have you tried this:
1. In the Welcome line ...click on My Account
2. On next page click on Forums Control Panel
3. Click on Control Panel 0/97 Messages Recent Posts Popular Topics My Posts
4. Scroll through the pages, it will have your posting history,or at least the last 150 posts that you have made.

Yes, I can see ALL my posts here, but I don't need that, besides I have to wade through them to find the chains I started, and I have to logon and click through the whole process to get there. If I got an e-mail for new topics I start I would gain the following:
1) A record in my environment of Topics I've initiated
2) The ability to get to these topics with 1 or 2 clicks
3) No need to sign on if I've enabled "Remember Me"
I'de also only be receiving 1 more e-mail on this topic which isn't an issue.
It should be easy to enable this functionality, and easy to make it configurable, so a member can turn it off if they don't want it.
At the moment I move the original e-mail notice for any posts I respond to into a seperate folder and delete all the remaining e-mails. For topics I initiate, I send myself an e-mail with the URL in the subject, and then move it to the same "Posts I've Responded to" folder, so I can go click, click and get back to the post quickly. This is because I may have deleted the e-mail notifying me of someone else's reply to my topic, or it may be buried in the hundreds of other SQL Server Central e-mails I recieve a day.
I think it's worth asking the Forum if they think it's worth having. I know I'd vote yes.

Sorry for the delay. AFAIK, this isn't available in this forum software. I'm also hesitant to touch it as we have issues with patches bugs from the vendor already.
We have debated rewriting it to add some functionality, but I'm not sure this would make the list. Most people, I think, wouldn't like it. You can subscribe to the topic immediately and then just save off those notifications.
I have never heard anyone working with the forum in this manner, FWIW.
