Hello
I am unable to find the Developer edition of SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.5) for free download as would normally be the case for other SQL Server releases. I have purchased the standard edition of SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.5) and cannot seem to find the Developer edition within the setup either - the only choices are Evaluation (180 day trial), Express or Express with Advanced Services.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
M

Developer edition is not free anymore. Someone else just started a thread on this recently..they ended up buying it from CDW for like $50
Or you could just get a technet subscription and get every software they make for $200.

I don't believe Developer has ever been free. AFAIK from SS2K5, it's been $50

OK. Thanks guys for the posts, I meant bundled with Enterprise for example on the MSDN licence.
Do you happen to know if there are any changes to the Integration Services in R2 compared to SQL Server 2008? i.e will SSIS 2005 packages require testing for R2 if they have already been tested in 2008?
Thanks

SSIS 2005 and 2008 are not compatible. 2005 packages must be upgraded for 2008 and are not backwards compatible. There shouldn't be any problems running 2008 packages with 2008R2.

I'm not sure about what the differences are. I would suspect there are some changes, but likely enhancements. I'd think if something worked against 2008 it would work with R2, but you never know.
