Hi All,
Which is more preferred while Upgrading SQL SERVER 2000 TO 2005 in a clustered environment ( Side by side upgradation or in place upgradation ? )

In my choice, In-Place upgradation is a better option. The moment when u are going to uninstall the previous version (Sql 2000), then it may give some issues like... "Mgmt Studio / Config. Mgr will not open..."... etc.

There was a typo ....Actually i need it to be done from sql server 2005 to sql server 2008 clustered environment .
We have 2 node cluster setup and 2 sql server instances .
One instance is active on 1 node and the other is active on the other node .

In-place upgrade is usually the better option. However, ensure to have good backups.

Are you upgrading the underlying OS?
eg Are you going to Windows Server 2008.
