I was looking at a sample question for 70-432 on http://www.accelerated-ideas.com/exams/practice-exam.aspx?group=70-432&q=3
And the question/answer confuses me a little - I'm hoping someone can explain it a little for me:
Q: Someone from your organisation is complaining that they canโt connect to the HR SQL Server using SQL Management Studio. However, they can open the Management Studio ok and other people can connect to the server fine. What might be the problem?
A - The SQL Agent is not running
B - SQL Client tools have not been installed on the users machine
C - The main server is probably down and needs rebooting
D - None of these
It returns the answer A with the following reason:
The SQL Agent must be running on the users machine to connect to an instance of SQL Server. This is a local service, which can be configured to start automatically. If it has stopped, just start the service from the Control Panel - Services console.
My question is what has SQL Agent got to do with someone being unable to connect to the database - and why would SQL Agent even be installed on 'the users machine'?

Good question.
The answer is that unfortunately the person who wrote the test clearly has no idea what they are talking about.

I long for a job where my databases dont have any pesky users accessing them ๐
