Has anyone ever exposed SSMS standard reports in Sharepoint?

  • We all know if we right click on a object in SSMS and scroll down to Reports -> Standard Reports there is a list of reports we can possible choose from! My question is could we also view the same reports in a Sharepoint Webpart? 😀 My background has been strictly SQL Server and have not done a thing until now in Sharepoint! :hehe:

  • I am guessing no one has any experience in doing this? Maybe I should look for a Sharepoint forum to post this to??? 😉

  • Yes you can, and it works great!

Download Sharepoint Designer 2010 - it's free, and unleash the power 😀

  • Well we are running SP 2007 with SQL Server 2005 backend! Currently there are no plans for SP 2010 yet, can I do this in SP 2007?

  • Yes, I've tested and no issues.

The designer is 2010, but the web part will work on SP 2007 as well.

    Good Luck.

  • Do have sample code in how to do this? Thanks!

  • Henrico: Help out don't leave me hanging on this.

  • Well here is what I have found so far:

    1. The RDL files for the SSMS canned reports are availiable here:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlrem/archive/2006/08/30/ssms-reports-3.aspxhttp://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlrem/archive/2006/08/30/ssms-reports-3.aspx

    2. Published them to SSRS.

    3. Use the URL from SSRS in a Sharepoint Webpart.

Well now I have to test all this out thoroughly before I can use.
