Intellisense in client tools 2008

    On a remote system SQL server 2005 has been installed. on my local machine I have SQL server 2008 client tools SDK installed.

    will intellisense work in my local machine ssms query window. I am unable to get intellisense working. I have checked the option enabled in tools options.

    Any advice please?

    no, sorry.

    the intellisense works only using 2008 client tools connecting to a 2008 instance; the same tools, when connecting to a pre-2008 instance do not enable themselves.

    IntelliSense to 2005 instances was (accidentally) available in CTP5 and CTP6 of 2008, but removed from RC0.

    There is a Connect item to vote for it to be re-instated:

    It currently has 436 'up' votes, but has been closed as being 'by design'.
