hi , i have to perform a log shipping configuration where the primary & secondary servers are hosted in different domains & at different cities. How should i setup a shared folder which is accessible to both the servers? Also how to configure the "copy" job so that my transaction log backups are transferred over the internet ?
In the past i have set up log shipping within the same domain but it's the first time i will be setting it across different locations/domains . Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You will need to enlist the aid of your Domain admin for each Domain or the Forest admin. You will need to make sure that a service account is being used that has appropriate permissions in both domains, that both domains have trust relationships for your needed resources appropriately set, and that both servers are using the appropriate service account just mentioned.
An easier solution is to have them in the same domain (even though both are in different cities - AD supports multi location single domain setups.)

I have always used ftp for this, and it has always been very simple. Then again, I have always had a team of network guys that make that sort of thing easy 🙂

Another demonstration of how this kind of task is not just a DBA task.
