TEMP DB is Full

    Hi All,

    tempdb database was full due to some adhoc queries, which made the tempdb full .SQL server was not able to accept any new request after that which made all the database down on that server.

    I restarted the server.Now it is working fine. My question is ...

    Cannot we put restriction on tempdb database?

    Can we set any alerts for TempDB?

    is there any monitoring we can put into place to identify if TEMPDB is full?

    Please let me know ASAP...

    do you have auto-growth enabled on TempDB?

    it is possible to setup an alert but a pro-active approach may be better and you should size tempDB appropriately for your needs
