Organising databases and servers

    I'm going to be developing 3 or 4 small/medium size databases over the next year. Should I run them all in the same databases engine or create a separate SQL server instance for each one. What are the pros and cons?

    If you are intending to run all the databases on the same server when it gets to production I'd go for a single instance unless either you want the databases in different versions of SQL or if you want different groups of staff managing the different instances.
