Installing SQL Server 2008

    Hello,

    I just downloaded and installed SQL Server 2008 R2 and the Adventureworks sample database.

    When I try to install the sample database it says :-

    Fatal error Failed object initialization (ISupportInitialize.EditInit). Property FileStream is not available for server.......(my laptop pc).

    Then it says :- Error at object 'DatabaseSelection' in markupfile 'DatabaseInstaller;component/databaseselection.xaml' Line 78 Position 3

    (see attached)

    Does anyone know how to fix this???

    I have previously downloaded northwind and pubs and have the SQL Server Database Primary Datafile saved in the SQL Server Express 'Data' folder. (see attached)

    I have right clicked the file and in the Properties screen on the Security tab given myself permission

    When I try to connect to the file (see attached) I get the error that server was not found or is not accessible (see attached)

    I am totally lost

    Please help

    When you connect to database engine, you connect to the instance name, not the file: c:\program files.....put your instance name there. if it is default instance, it should be Phil-PC.
