Report Builder Will Not Launch

    I am using SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition; I created a report model and deployed it to the report server (in my case it is my laptop). I browsed to http://localhost/reports and can see the model, data source etc. I am a member of the local admins group so I gave the group access to everything.

    When I click on the Report Builder button I get a dialogue box open up for a few seconds and then disappears. Nothing else happens.

    Has anyone seen this before? I cannot use Report Builder and have tried all sorts of things but nothing works. The error logs do not mention any errors and nothing is written to the Windows Event log either.

    What operating system are you running? I would recommend following all of these steps - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630430.aspx - to see if that possibly resolves your issue. Assuming you should have the .NET framework 2.0 installed already because that would be a requirement as well.

    Thanks for the link; looking through the recommendations, I have configured (where applicable to SSRS 2005) the options as described already. I am using Windows XP Professional.

    It is very strange, I can design and distribute reports using Visual Studio and can execute the reports from http://localhost/reports. But clicking on the Report Builder button displays the "Launching Application" dialogue and then does nothing else?:crazy:
