I want to review the disk setup for our database servers and go a little deeper than just how many drives we have and how filegroups are set up. For example, I want to review sector size, LUNs spindles, partition alignment and track boundaries, and whatever else makes a difference. I know the items I’ve listed are important to consider, but I'm not sure exactly how to evaluate them and I know that this list is just the tip of the iceberg.
I have googled for some info and found a lot of good information, but it feels fragmented (like there might be some considerations missing) and sometimes I’m not sure what I’m reading is actually correct. So I guess I’m looking for a second opinion. Can you recommend any books, white papers, blogs or other sources that I can use to get down into the meat of how to configure the disk systems?
Thanks,
Chad

Start Here:

Then check this one out

Here is a recommendation by Buck Woody (MS Employee knows his stuff)
Another one by Denny Cherry (higher level disk config)

I sure wish that forums could be put into one's briefcase. This one would definitely qualify.
