ok. I hope you guys can handle my pain in the rear questions. I am new to the server side of things.
I used to have MYSQL installed because I was setting up a website for someone. But I thought I had uninstalled it.
I downloaded SQL Server 2008 in order to start working on some applications and received an error
The loading and initialization of 'setup.rll' failed with error code 0x80070002.
SQL Server Setup will now exit.
I was pretty sure I had verified I had everything needed to install it correctly, but when looking around for answers I found I had MYSQL still installed so I uninstalled it thinking that is what caused the issue. But I am still getting the error.
What else should I look for?

I think that error is related to files not being where the setup program is expecting them to be. Not sure about 2008, but on prior versions of SQL Server, setup was very picky about having the names of the 2 folders "Servers" and "Tools" and they had to be located in the same directory or both at root.
Is that the only information returned or is there more to the message?

That is the only information. I checked for those folders. I only have one called server and no tools. I'll add it and let you know how it works out. Thanks for the response.

No that didn't work either. Thanks anyway. I will go back and recheck everything. Maybe I missed something.
Thanks anyway
