Hi there,
Ok, I have tried to install the SQL 2008 R2. My laptop has installed SQL 2005 (developer edition) and SQL 2008 ( enterprise edition this is a trial, which came with a book that I bought a year ago the Training kit for the exam 70-433).
I did not use it at all so I have unistalled it and tried to install the new version R2.
When I want tu run the SSMS appears a error saying " the evaluation has expired". I suppose that is because the previous version of 2008 which came with the book.
Any idea if there is an tool to unistall everything from previous installations of SQL 2008?
Many thanks,
Alex

You should be able to uninstall completely from control panel, reboot, and then reinstall 2008 R2.

Boy, I hate evals for this reason. I assume it's expired, correct?
Do these help? You might be stuck as they don't want you to keep installing evals on the same box.

Hi!, That is my case!. I had SQL 2005 (Developer, full non the trial one) and I had SQL 2008, the version was a trial and I never touched it. And now I couldn't use SQL 2005! That's because both use the same SSMS interface.
I have run several times the unistall and I still have SQL 2008 Database Engine!!.. is still there! :hehe:
I will reinstall SQL 2005. Let see if I have luck
Cheers,
Alex
