Since we have new 2008 servers we installed the reporting services on the new 2008 web server and let it create the reporting services databases on the new 2008 database server. We thought we should be able to just restore the old 2005 reporting services databases on the new 2008 server and should be able to run off of that. But once we restored the databases we get errors on the web services saying the report service is not initialized.
Any suggestions? If there any specific things that needs to be changed or updated?

It sounds to me like you need to restore a backup copy of your report server encryption key. Did you backup a copy of the encryption key prior to the migration? Backing up the key is important to the migration process as you will need it for the report server to regain access to encrypted data.
