Is it possible to force a data type conversion even if it claims data will be loss?

    Hello,

    I have two fields that need to be added together but they will only import as strings. Is it possible to force these columns to int so I can add them together in Access? I have tried using BIS and just using the import task to import the data with the correct data type but no luck so far.

    So I'm confused. Where is the data stored and where is it being moved to? Where does the conversion need to take place?

    Never mind I figured out where the error was. The person who created the package that I inherited failed to use the text qualifier so the fields always had "" in them which is why I could not import it as numeric.
